Council for the Village of Point Edward is concerned about a recent proposal by the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks that could jeopardize over 135 small rural, remote, and Northern Ontario community Blue Box programs. Council for the Village of Point Edward strongly advocates for language to be included in the regulation that ensures municipalities under a population of 5,000 a seamless transition, allowing continuation of Blue Box service as the Province of Ontario moves to a full "producer responsibility" system. Council directs Staff to forward this resolution to the Honourable Jeff Yurek, Ontario Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, and Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey.
